Role Summary: As a Community Outreach Assistant at Birth Equity 4 All, you will play a vital role in promoting birth equity, advocating for improved maternal healthcare, and engaging with diverse communities. You will work closely with our team to organize advocacy trainings, represent the organization at events, collaborate on community outreach initiatives, and support our online presence. Through your efforts, you will help raise awareness, build relationships, and empower individuals to take action towards achieving birth equity for all.

Responsibilities:

  1. Organize Advocacy Trainings with Healthcare Student Groups:

    • Coordinate and facilitate advocacy trainings with healthcare student groups to promote birth equity and advocate for improved maternal healthcare.

    • Develop training materials, resources, and presentations in collaboration with team members.

  2. Represent the Organization at Events:

    • Attend in-person events, including conferences, workshops, and community gatherings, to raise awareness about birth equity issues.

    • Engage with attendees, distribute informational materials, and communicate the organization's mission and objectives effectively.

  3. Collaborate on Community Events Planning:

    • Work with team members to plan and execute community events focused on educating and engaging the public on matters related to birth equity, maternal health, and healthcare disparities.

    • Assist with event logistics, promotion, and outreach to ensure successful participation and attendance.

  4. Develop and Maintain Relationships with Community Partners:

    • Establish and nurture relationships with community partners, healthcare professionals, and advocacy groups to expand the organization's reach and impact.

    • Collaborate on joint initiatives, projects, and events to advance shared goals and objectives.

  5. Assist with Educational Materials Creation:

    • Contribute to the creation of educational materials, presentations, and resources to support outreach efforts and empower community members to advocate for change.

    • Ensure materials are accessible, culturally sensitive, and aligned with evidence-based practices.

  6. Assist with Administrative Tasks:

    • Provide support with administrative tasks such as data entry, scheduling, and communication with volunteers and stakeholders.

    • Help maintain organized records and documentation related to outreach activities.

  7. Stay Informed and Contribute to Strategy Discussions:

  • Stay informed about current issues, research, and policies related to birth equity and maternal health to effectively communicate and advocate for evidence-based solutions.

  • Participate in meetings, brainstorming sessions, and strategy discussions to contribute ideas and insights for advancing the organization's goals.

Qualifications:

  • Passion for social justice, equity, and improving maternal health outcomes.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Previous experience in community outreach, advocacy, or event planning is a plus.

  • Familiarity with social media platforms and online communication tools.
