ADVOCATING ON CAPITOL HILL

Today, I met with lawmakers in Washington D.C. in support of policies that would improve the lives of moms, babies and families across our nation.

I’m honored to be a voice on behalf of so many families who need our support.

When speaking to Congressional Representatives and Senators, I explained why I gathered my community to march for change, and asked them to support policies including:

• Increasing funding to vital programs, including strengthening our newborn screening programs, funding to screen and treat maternal depression and related behavior disorders, and funding for the Maternal Mental Health Hotline.

• Passing the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act.

• Fighting to pass the Black Maternal Health #Momnibus Act, and advocating for a down payment for crucial investments in maternal and infant health.

• Speaking out in support of the Into the Light for Maternal Mental Health and Substance Use Disorders Act.

Each one of these goals will have a long lasting impact in our communities and I know their support will help make the U.S. a less dangerous place for women to give birth.

Thank you to Sen. Tom Carper @senatorcarper , Rep. Lisa Blunt Rochester @replbr , Sen. Ben Cardin @senatorcardin , Rep. Andy Harris @rep.harris and your respective teams for meeting with me!
